Hiroshima is in the region of Hiroshima Prefecture, in Japan.
Hiroshima is a bustling city located in the southwestern part of Japan's main island, Honshu. It's the capital of the Hiroshima Prefecture and is known for its rich culture, history and local cuisine. Hiroshima is famous for the A-Bomb Dome which still stands as a memorial to the horrific atomic bombing in 1945, but it's also home to several beautiful shrines and temples such as Itsukushima Shrine, a vermillion torii gate that floats on the water at high tide. The city's streets are a maze of shops and restaurants, serving Hiroshima's unique okonomiyaki dish, a savory pancake with layers of cabbage, meat, and egg, and generous amounts of okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise.
